Following its regional launch at a glamorous gala event in Dubai’s Al Serkal arts and culture district in May 2024, McLaren has announced that the new Artura Spider has officially arrived in the Middle East.

Customers in the region can now reach out to their nearest McLaren dealership to book an experience with McLaren’s first-ever convertible featuring a high-performance hybrid powertrain.

This announcement comes less than a month after the McLaren Artura Spider made its global dynamic debut at the Monaco F1 Grand Prix, driven by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and accompanied by H.S.H Hereditary Prince Jacques.

The new Artura Spider was designed and developed with ambitious targets, focusing on driver engagement, performance, agility, refinement, efficiency, and quality. It introduces significant upgrades in power, performance, and driver engagement, combined with the sensory pleasures of open-top driving, adding a remarkable new dimension to the Artura.

“We are extremely excited to offer test drives in the exhilarating new Artura Spider to customers for the first time in the Middle East. With an upgraded powertrain and chassis delivering more power, more dynamic performance and even higher levels of connection with the driver, this exceptional convertible delivers on everything that you would expect from a McLaren supercar, without any compromise on everyday driving. We can’t wait for McLaren fans in the region to experience the exceptional performance of the Artura Spider for themselves.’’ Robert Holtshausen, Market Director, Middle East & Africa.

The new Artura Spider boasts a dry weight of just 1,457 kg and a kerb weight (DIN) of only 1,560 kg, making it the lightest among convertible competitors with an advantage of up to 83 kg. Combined with the 700 PS high-performance hybrid powertrain, this results in a power-to-weight ratio of 480 PS/tonne at its lightest dry weight, optimizing every aspect of supercar performance, including its mid-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive chassis layout.

McLaren’s high-performance hybrid powertrain has been recalibrated, with an additional 20 PS from the V6 combustion engine in the MY25 Artura, increasing overall power to 700 PS.

This additional power is concentrated from 4,000 rpm to the redline at 8,500 rpm, providing a notable ‘crescendo’ in performance. Peak torque remains at 720 Nm, with delivery optimized by minor changes to electronic mapping.

The instant torque delivery provided by the E-motor and the 605 PS twin-turbocharged V6 engine gives the Artura razor-sharp throttle response and acceleration. Official figures for the Artura Spider include 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 3.0 seconds, 0-200 km/h (0-124 mph) in 8.4 seconds, and 0-300 km/h (0-186 mph) in 21.6 seconds, with a top speed limited to 330 km/h (205 mph).

Every new McLaren Artura comes standard with a five-year, unlimited mileage vehicle warranty, a six-year, 75,000 km/45,000-mile battery warranty, and a ten-year anti-perforation body warranty, all of which can be extended. A three-year service plan and a five-year roadside assistance package are also included.

Joaquin Mencia, Chief Innovation Officer at Chalhoub Group, commented: “The Fashion Lab is yet another testament to Chalhoub Group’s unwavering commitment to fostering innovation and excellence in the Saudi fashion scene. The first cohort of The Fashion Lab produced remarkable success stories that highlight the program’s impact. Brands like KAFBYKAF have gone on to receive significant acclaim. “The Fashion Lab gave KAFBYKAF the unique experience of selling on a Chalhoub Group platform and receiving guidance and exclusive access to senior leaders and retail experts from the Group, which was incredibly valuable to my brand,” said Kawthar Alhoraish, Founder of KAFBYKAF. “I recommend this program for any brand ready for acceleration.”

Joseph Chalhoub, General Manager of Fashion KSA at Chalhoub Group

“Having worked closely with the brands in the first cohort of The Fashion Lab, I have witnessed firsthand the incredible talent and potential within the Saudi fashion industry,” said Joseph Chalhoub, General Manager of Fashion KSA at Chalhoub Group. “This program is a transformative journey that provides real support, knowledge sharing from retail experts, and commercial opportunities for local brands to thrive.”

This year’s cohort will offer ten Saudi brands a unique chance to gain mentorship and guidance from prestigious partners such as Boltable Studios, Instagram and Snap Inc. The program will be hybrid, based out of Riyadh, and will feature approximately 30 exclusive mentorship and workshop sessions. Successful applicants will have the rare opportunity to bring their collections to life on one of Chalhoub Group’s sales channels.
