Isam J. Al Sager

Isam J. Al Sager is a distinguished banking professional who has dedicated over four decades of his career to the National Bank of Kuwait (NBK), one of the most prominent financial institutions in the Middle East.

A graduate of California State Polytechnic University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration, he combines his academic foundation with decades of practical experience to navigate the complexities of the global financial landscape.

He has held the position of Vice Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer at NBK since March 2014, showcasing his exceptional leadership and strategic foresight.

Al Sager began his career at NBK in 1978, steadily advancing through the organization’s ranks. Throughout his journey, he held several key roles that refined his expertise and solidified his influence within the banking sector, including General Manager of the Retail and Wholesale Banking Group, Deputy CEO of NBK Kuwait, and CEO of NBK Kuwait.

Under his leadership, NBK has reached significant milestones, cementing its status as a leader in the regional banking industry. Al Sager has been instrumental in driving the bank’s financial growth and embracing innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation. A notable achievement during his leadership was the launch of Weyay Bank in 2021, Kuwait’s first digital bank, reinforcing NBK’s commitment to technological innovation.

In addition to his responsibilities at NBK, Al Sager serves as the Chairman of NBK (International) and is a board member of Watani Wealth Management.
