In a remarkable achievement during the peak travel season of June.
Saudia, the national flag carrier of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, has been ranked the top global airline for on-time performance in June 2024 by the independent aviation tracking site Cirium.
The report highlights that Saudia achieved an on-time arrival rate of 88.22% and an on-time departure rate of 88.73%, across 16,133 flights to over 100 destinations on four continents. This accomplishment is especially significant considering June’s peak travel demands due to the Hajj and summer travel seasons.
His Excellency Engr. Ibrahim Al-Omar, Director General of Saudia Group, highlighted, “This accomplishment is a realization of our strategic goals to enhance operational efficiency and quality through continuous improvements in flight scheduling and the implementation of the best digital solutions and systems for operations management. Maintaining a high level of on-time performance requires significant effort, as it involves overcoming numerous operational challenges in the aviation industry, such as weather conditions, high temperatures, technical issues, and other airport-related factors. I express my gratitude to all Saudia employees for their diligent work in maintaining the national flag carrier’s operational excellence.”
Saudia has consistently been among the top ten global airlines for on-time performance since last year, demonstrating its commitment to providing the highest standards of quality and air safety. Its operations are managed through the largest Integrated Operation Control Center (IOCC) of its kind in the Middle East, which operates within a comprehensive system involving all sectors and group companies.
Additionally, the center utilizes the latest technologies for aircraft communications, ensuring smooth operations by monitoring all procedures related to aircraft takeoff and landing in real time at all domestic and international stations.

GCAA and ATRC entities – TII and ASPIRE collaborate on technical expertise and airspace management
The UAE has taken a bold step towards redefining urban transportation with the commencement of air corridor mapping and regulatory framework development for piloted and autonomous air taxis and cargo drones. This transformative initiative marks a major leap forward in the nation’s mission to lead the future of mobility. Through a strategic partnership between the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Advanced Technology Research Council (ATRC) entities—Technology Innovation Institute (TII) and ASPIRE—the UAE is on track to reshape the way people and goods move through urban spaces.
With aerial corridors and regulations set to be defined within the next 20 months, this pioneering effort demonstrates the UAE’s unwavering commitment to deploying safe, advanced, sustainable transportation solutions that will not only ease congestion but also set a global benchmark for future urban mobility systems. These routes will connect key international airports and iconic places in the UAE, extending further to ensure seamless integration of piloted and autonomous air taxis and cargo drones across the nation’s urban landscapes.
His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the GCAA said: “Air corridor mapping for piloted and autonomous air taxis and drones is a crucial milestone that will enable the seamless implementation of Advanced Air Mobility into the UAE’s infrastructure. This initiative ensures the safe and efficient adoption of air mobility, delivering transformative solutions to urban transport and paving the way for a smarter, more connected future.”
The UAE’s forward-thinking approach to urban transportation will be supported by TII’s expertise in airspace management, ensuring the safe integration of piloted and autonomous air taxis and cargo drones into urban environments. These new air corridors will offer innovative solutions for passenger and cargo transport, relieving pressure on traditional road networks and improving connectivity.
Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII, said: “This transformative collaboration with GCAA is reshaping the future of urban transportation. By advancing airspace management and integrating piloted and autonomous air taxis and cargo drones, we are not only enhancing urban connectivity but also driving sustainable and accessible mobility solutions that will benefit future generations.”
Stephane Timpano from ASPIRE said: “Addressing real-time urban mobility challenges through innovative solutions like air taxis and drones is a major step forward. This initiative directly supports sustainable economic growth by creating a flexible and diverse transport system that eases pressure on urban infrastructure and fosters smarter, more resilient cities.”
Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) refers to the use of automated aircraft in urban and suburban settings to deliver innovative transport solutions for people and goods. With TII at the helm of developing the technical aspects of AAM and ASPIRE focusing on creating a network of stakeholders, including regulators, industry leaders, and researchers, this collaboration aims to establish a comprehensive regulatory framework that ensures safety and operational efficiency.
Prof. Enrico Natalizio, Chief Researcher of the Autonomous Robotics Research Center at TII, commented: “At TII, we’re developing advanced AI-powered control, vision and communication algorithms for autonomous systems that enable real-time decision-making for air taxis and drones. Having mastered this technology, we are able to propose methodologies for AAM corridors design to optimize routes, ensure collision avoidance, and integrate seamlessly with urban airspace, marking a key step toward efficient and safe autonomous air mobility in complex urban environments.”
Together with GCAA, these entities will define the airspace regulations and develop airspace management systems, making the UAE a global benchmark for advanced urban mobility.

Dubai’s success is driven by seamless collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Dubai has once again set a new benchmark in global tourism, welcoming 18.72 million international overnight visitors in 2024. This milestone marks a 9% year-over-year growth, surpassing the previous record of 17.15 million in 2023, according to the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). The emirate’s strategic initiatives, world-class infrastructure, and commitment to innovation have cemented its reputation as a leading destination for business, leisure, and investment.
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, credited the city’s record-breaking tourism growth to the visionary leadership of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai. The growth aligns with the ambitious goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which aims to double the city’s economy by 2033 and solidify its position as a top global hub.
Dubai’s success is driven by seamless collaboration between the public and private sectors. Through continuous innovation, market diversification, and infrastructure expansion, the city has enhanced its global appeal, attracting a diverse mix of travelers. Strategic foreign investment and a focus on global talent acquisition have played a crucial role in this growth, ensuring Dubai remains competitive on the world stage.
Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), said, “Dubai’s exceptional performance in the tourism sector for 2024 is a powerful testament to the visionary leadership of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
“Through careful planning and dynamic, agile policy implementation, Dubai has successfully navigated global economic and geographic headwinds to achieve record-setting growth in tourism for a second consecutive year, having long resumed its pre-pandemic upward trajectory. This achievement is not an isolated milestone but a foundational pillar of Dubai’s diversified growth strategy, one that fuels interconnected D33 objectives—spanning talent acquisition, FDI inflow, and the global competitiveness of businesses operating within Dubai’s ecosystem.
“Dubai’s economic trajectory is driven by its ability to adapt and innovate. This is supported by a diversified portfolio of industries, enhanced global connectivity, and an increasingly business-friendly environment. World-class infrastructure development and sustained investment in capacity have further solidified Dubai’s standing as a global leader across all critical segments.
“As we move forward into 2025, Dubai will continue charting new avenues for growth. By transcending traditional tourism, fostering high-impact investment opportunities, nurturing entrepreneurship, and magnetizing global talent, we will reinforce Dubai’s position as not only a preferred destination but also as a cornerstone of global economic leadership and innovation.”
A key factor behind this achievement is Dubai’s ability to attract visitors from a broad range of markets. In 2024, Northeast and Southeast Asia recorded the highest growth rate of 24%, followed by Africa at 20%, and CIS & Eastern Europe at 16%. Western Europe remained the leading source region, growing by 14%.
The hospitality sector has been instrumental in supporting this tourism boom. Dubai’s hotel inventory expanded to 154,016 rooms across 832 establishments by the end of 2024, reflecting steady growth in response to increasing demand. The city maintained a strong average hotel occupancy of 78.2%, while new luxury openings such as One&Only One Za’abeel, SIRO One Za’abeel, and The Lana Dorchester Collection added to Dubai’s appeal. The city’s hotels also outperformed major global peers, offering competitive rates while maintaining high standards of service.
Dubai’s strategic approach to global marketing played a pivotal role in attracting visitors. Successful campaigns such as ‘Dubai, What’s Not to Love?’ and ‘If You Go, You Know’ resonated with international audiences. Collaborations with influential global figures, including artists and content creators, amplified Dubai’s appeal, making it a top choice for travelers worldwide.
Beyond leisure tourism, Dubai reinforced its status as a premier business and events destination. High-profile exhibitions, trade shows, and industry summits—such as GITEX Global, Gulfood, and Arabian Travel Market—attracted thousands of business travelers. The Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector continued to thrive, with Dubai securing 437 major global events in 2024, drawing an estimated 210,731 delegates over the coming years.

As ELIE SAAB deepens its roots in the Middle East and continues its global expansion, we interviewed Elie Saab Jr. to discuss the success of its latest events, the brand’s vision, and what the future holds.
For over four decades, the house of Elie Saab has defined haute couture with its exquisite silhouettes and meticulous craftsmanship, dressing royalty, celebrities, and women who seek the extraordinary. Yet, beyond fashion, the brand has evolved into a global luxury lifestyle name, extending its signature sophistication into interiors, real estate, and more.
While Elie Saab’s creative vision made his name legendary, the brand’s future is being shaped by his son, Mr. Elie Saab Jr. As CEO & Vice Chairman, he is driving its expansion into new frontiers, leading a period of unprecedented growth. Since joining as brand director in 2012 and becoming CEO in 2019, he has redefined the company’s strategy, modernizing its structure and enhancing customer experience. Under his leadership, ELIE SAAB has entered a new era of unprecedented growth, solidifying its position as a global luxury powerhouse.
His vision goes beyond couture, integrating a reengineered organizational structure, digital transformation, and a commitment to innovation. This evolution has propelled the brand’s expansion across industries and continents, reinforcing its status as a leader in luxury.
As ELIE SAAB deepens its roots in the Middle East and continues its global expansion, we interviewed Elie Saab Jr. to discuss the success of its latest events, the brand’s vision, and what the future holds.
The event was a celebration of storytelling and craftsmanship, highlighting the brand’s connection to the Middle East’s rich cultural heritage. Its success affirmed the region’s growing prominence in the global luxury market and reflected the universal appeal of our designs. Every person who worked on this project did so from the heart, and I am truly moved by the result. We are proud to be part of Riyadh Season, and we are proud to see how our creations resonated with such a diverse and engaged audience.
This collaboration reflected the values of elegance, innovation, and cultural pride that we both carry and represent. It allowed us to celebrate Saudi Arabia’s transformation and share with the world a new perspective on the Kingdom as it is today. Through this event, we showcased how beauty and modernity can come together to honor the region’s identity on a global stage.
The most rewarding aspect of Elie Saab’s expansion has been the opportunity to bring our craftsmanship and unique vision to new markets and communities. Our growth has allowed us to engage with diverse audiences who appreciate the elegance and timelessness that define our brand. It is only natural for us to further cement our presence in the region, where we continue to see exciting opportunities for growth. We are still expanding, with new boutiques opening in key locations such as Kuwait.
Looking toward 2025 and beyond, we plan to foster this growth by maintaining a focus on innovation, quality, and the personal experience we offer our customers. Whether through exclusive events, curated collections, or meaningful collaborations, we are committed to remaining at the forefront of the luxury fashion world while staying true to our roots and the values that have made Elie Saab a global name.
ELIE SAAB Maison, launched just five years ago, has grown significantly, furnishing complete homes worldwide and establishing itself as a symbol of sophisticated and timeless living. This journey reflects a broader shift in consumer behavior—customers today want more than a product; they seek a story, an experience, and a connection to a lifestyle.
Our expansion from haute couture to luxury interiors embodies this, driven by Mr. Saab’s vision of creating spaces that inspire daily living. This philosophy has shaped our home collections, resulting in pieces and interiors that embody timeless elegance and exceptional craftsmanship.
We have expanded this vision into real estate developments and hospitality, with an increasing focus on fully furnished projects where clients can experience the ELIE SAAB lifestyle in its entirety.
As we look ahead, we will continue to build on this vision, delivering complete environments that inspire and connect with our global audience in meaningful ways.
We are excited to continue expanding geographically and further growing our luxury lifestyle concept. From ready-to-wear and couture to perfume, accessories, and Maison, we aim to strengthen our position as a luxury lifestyle brand. In 2025, we will focus on blending innovation with our heritage, expanding our real estate and furniture lines, and consolidating our existing offerings to ensure the brand remains a symbol of sophistication and modernity.
Maintaining the legacy of Elie Saab means staying true to our roots while embracing change. Through new projects, we continuously strive to stay forward-thinking and attuned to the evolving luxury landscape. For a while now, we have been focusing on anticipating consumer needs to remain relevant in today’s competitive world. By prioritizing innovation and digital transformation, we can adapt to shifting expectations while ensuring that our commitment to craftsmanship, elegance, and timeless design remains at the core of everything we do. This balance allows us to honor our heritage while staying at the forefront of the global luxury market.
