In a move to enhance convenience for Emiratis, the UAE Cabinet has decided to extend the validity of passports for individuals over the age of 21 from five years to ten years. This announcement was made by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, through various social media channels.
Comprehensive Amendments to Passport Regulations
During a Cabinet meeting held on March 18 at Qasr Al Watan in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed disclosed that the executive regulations of the federal law on citizenship and passports had been revised. ” “We approved extending the validity period of the UAE passport from five to 10 years for Emiratis aged 21 and above”, he stated.
These amendments are aimed at providing more streamlined and digital-centric services to the citizens, signifying a shift towards enhancing the administrative facets of citizenship and travel documents.
