Between skyline and sand: the Cayenne Electric makes its physical debut in Dubai

The all-new Cayenne Electric makes its public debut in Dubai—proving its power both on the city streets and in the Arabian Desert. With groundbreaking E-Performance, advanced off-road tech, and up to 850 kW of instant power, it redefines what an electric SUV can do.

Sat, Nov 22, 2025 3 min

Dubai is a city that embodies dynamism and technological progress like few others. This is where the Cayenne Electric is making its first public appearance – after proving its ability to handle terrain off the beaten track beyond the city limits. Just an hour’s drive outside the city begins one of the most challenging test sites in the world: the Arabian Desert. Here, during its testing, the Cayenne Electric impressively demonstrated how E-Performance can take the off-road experience to a new level – especially when it comes to the traditional part of the product requirements for every generation of Cayenne: ‘dune surfing’.

“The Cayenne Electric drives like a much lighter vehicle in the dunes,” says Michael Schätzle, Vice President Product Line Cayenne. “This ease of handling surprised even us. Especially in situations with low speeds and large steering angles, the Cayenne Electric demonstrates a level of control that we have never experienced in this form before.

One SUV, two worlds: city performance and desert prowess

On the road, the Cayenne Electric offers the driving dynamics of a sports car and the comfort of a sedan. Off-road, it demonstrates the uncompromising off-road capability that has been at the core of the model series since its market launch in 2002. During test drives in the dunes with fine powder sand, gradients of more than 25 degrees and temperatures beyond the 40-degree mark, the SUV impressed with its precise, instantly available power.

A key factor in this is the new drive system that, in the Cayenne Electric Turbo, generates up to 850 kW (1,156 PS^) and 1,500 Nm of torque when launch control is activated. The low inertia of the electric motors, together with the ‘Sand’ off-road driving mode and the sensitive accelerator pedal, ensures precise control of the power. “This makes it much easier to make optimal use of the necessary ‘target slip’ for maximum grip on loose surfaces,” explains Schätzle.

The camouflaged prototypes of the Cayenne Electric completed desert testing on standard summer tyres – and with different chassis systems. The standard Adaptive Air Suspension with PASM impressed with its high level of off-road capability. When equipped with this system, the Cayenne Electric’s ground clearance can be increased by 55 millimetres to up to 245 mm at the dedicated off-road ride-height.

For the Cayenne Electric Turbo, the optional Porsche Active Ride significantly in-creases traction even further. “The body is virtually suspended in the air,” says Schätzle. “Unevenness is compensated for directly at the wheel so that the body re-mains still and the wheel load varies less.” This ensures noticeably greater control, especially in deep sand.

Technology for maximum traction and temperature control

The impressive off-road capabilities of the Cayenne Electric are ensured by numerous innovations and equipment features:
Porsche Traction Management (ePTM): the electronically controlled all-wheel drive system works about five times faster than conventional systems and supports all off-road modes (sand, gravel, mud, rocks).
Offroad Package: increased approach angle of up to 25 degrees, modified lower front section, reinforced side skirts with skid plates, and horizontal cooling air flaps for additional air supply.
New battery cooling strategy: for the first time, two cooling plates are used per module, which efficiently regulate the temperature of the 113 kWh high-voltage battery from above and below.
Direct oil cooling: motorsport technology for a long-lasting, sustained high power output from the electric motor on the rear axle of the Cayenne Turbo.
Adaptive Air Suspension with PASM: ground clearance increased to up to 245 mm at the dedicated off-road ride height.
Porsche Active Ride (optional for Cayenne Turbo): the premium active suspension almost completely compensates for body movements – for stability and traction even in demanding dune landscapes.
Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus): the combination of electronically controlled differential lock and targeted braking interventions on the rear axle of the Turbo model improves traction, stability and lateral dynamics – particularly effective even on loose surfaces.

Parmigiani Fleurier Presents the New TONDA PF Minute Rattrapante Arctic Rose

Parmigiani Fleurier reimagines its pioneering TONDA PF Minute Rattrapante with the new Arctic Rose dial — a rare blend of technical mastery, poetic timekeeping, and understated private luxury.

Thu, Nov 20, 2025 3 min

In 2023, Parmigiani Fleurier unveiled the TONDA PF Minute Rattrapante, a world first that immediately captivated connoisseurs.

Not a complication created to measure performance, but a timepiece offering a unique kind of experience, the ability to add time on demand. An innovative idea executed with disarming clarity, bringing watchmaking back to its original purpose: to be a lifelong companion.

PRIVATE LUXURY, A CULTURED EXPRESSION OF TIME

Parmigiani Fleurier’s philosophy rests on a single conviction: true luxury is lived as a personal, understated, and cultured experience. The Maison calls this private luxury a form of refinement conceived for those who seek meaning and essential beauty.

The Tonda PF rattrapante models embody this vision. They mark the passage from Chronos, measured and imposed time, to Kairos, the time one chooses and inhabits as one’s own. In a World saturated with information and acceleration, they offer a pause, an invitation to reclaim the moment.

THE TONDA PF MINUTE RATTRAPANTE: THE ART OF SIMPLIFYING COMPLEXITY

Its principle, unmatched to this day, is one of remarkable clarity: two superimposed minute hands, invisible to one another until the function is activated.

Through this ingenious construction, a highly sophisticated mechanism becomes intuitive, transforming complexity into elegance.

Three pushers orchestrate the function: one at 10 o’clock to add a minute, another at 8 o’clock to add five, and the crown to reset.

The rhodium-plated hand indicates the real time.

The rose gold hand marks the chosen interval.

When the two hands meet again, the granted time has elapsed.

Everything unfolds with quiet elegance, the mechanism remains hidden, awakening only when summoned. A measurement of time on demand, inviting each wearer to extend a moment, slow the pace, or simply reclaim their own rhythm.

ARCTIC ROSE: BORN OF LIGHT

In 2025, the TONDA PF Minute Rattrapante is reinterpreted with an Arctic Rose dial. Across pale rose and crystalline reflections, the hue shifts with light, revealing a subtle and ever-changing palette.

This chromatic choice belongs to a broader story. In the eighteenth century, rose was a color worn by men, a symbol of refinement and distinction. It was only in the second half of the twentieth century that it became associated with the feminine. To reintroduce this shade into masculine watchmaking today is to reconnect with a forgotten tradition and affirm an aesthetic freed from convention.

Arctic Rose becomes the language of a confident elegance, intimate, contemporary and surprisingly versatile.

PARMIGIANI FLEURIER’S STYLISTIC CODES

Like all creations within the TONDA PF collection, the Minute Rattrapante Arctic Rose expresses an immediately recognizable aesthetic language, reserved for the initiated.

The Grain d’Orge guilloché: a signature motif of the Maison since 1996, executed here in an exceptionally fine pattern. Its hypnotic regularity plays with the light, lending the dial depth and movement.

The hand knurled platinum bezel: discreet and subtle, it captures the reflections through micro-facets, silent signature, identifiable only to the connoisseur. Fluid ergonomics: case and bracelet are seamlessly integrated, with hand-polished and satin-brushed finishes forming a sculptural continuity that rests naturally on the wrist.

THE PF052 MOVEMENT:

VISIBLE AND INVISIBLE BEAUTY

On the reverse, the PF052 calibre affirms that aesthetic innovation and mechanical excellence are inseparable. This automatic movement integrates the world’s first Minute Rattrapante function within a remarkably slender architecture of just 4.9 mm, a demonstration of perfect harmony between design purity and horological sophistication.

Comprising 271 components, the calibre is finished to the highest standards of traditional watchmaking: Côtes de Genève, perlage, bevelling. The 22-carat rose gold micro- rotor, adorned with Grain d’Orge guilloché, echoes the dial and creates a subtle harmony between exterior and interior.

THE BEAUTY OF TAKING TIME LIGHTLY

The TONDA PF Minute Rattrapante Arctic Rose opens a new dialogue with time, intuitive and luminous. Its mechanism, invisible yet alive beneath the dial, transforms precision into emotion. The Arctic Rose tone reveals a rare vibration, one that speaks of discernment, of taste, of a cultivated sensitivity to light and rhythm.

It invites you to inhabit time differently: not as something to control, but as something to understand and to feel.

A creation born from Michel Parmigiani’s horological culture and refined by the Maison’s purist aesthetic, where intelligence meets emotion and beauty awakens awareness.

Kaspersky warns of blackmail from alleged “hackers”, “law enforcement” and “hitmen”

Scammers now use real personal data like names and phone numbers to make phishing emails more convincing — posing as hackers, police, or even hitmen demanding crypto. Kaspersky advises: ignore suspicious emails, never open attachments, and remember — real authorities don’t ask for payments online.

Thu, Nov 13, 2025 3 min

Attackers are incorporating personal details like full names and phone numbers in scam emails to appear credible and induce panic among victims. Scammers may pose as hackers with compromising data, law enforcement agencies issuing fake summons, or even hired assassins demanding ransoms. These threats often leverage techniques to evade email filters and other security solutions, underscoring the need for heightened vigilance.

In the most common variant, scammers impersonate hackers who claim to have infiltrated the victim’s devices. They allege to have access to cameras, microphones, browsing history, and sensitive files, often threatening to release explicit content captured via webcam or screen recordings supposedly taken whilst the victim was watching adult content. Demands typically evolve hundreds of US dollars in cryptocurrency, with promises to delete the data upon payment. These emails may include detailed narratives of the supposed breach, including explanations of malware types and advice on better security – ironically, tips that align with genuine best practices.

Another scam twist involves fraudsters posing as hired hitmen. In this scheme, the sender claims a contract has been placed on the victim’s life but offers to spare them if they outbid the original payer. The email includes a cryptocurrency wallet for the ransom, framing the scammer as a “merciful” intermediary. This variant relies on fear rather than embarrassment, promising the victim’s life in exchange for payment.

Another prevalent tactic sees scammers masquerading as law enforcement agencies, such as Europol. Victims receive emails with attached PDF or DOC files containing fake summonses accusing them of serious crimes like child exploitation, exhibitionism, or human trafficking. These documents cite fabricated articles of legal codes, feature forged signatures and seals, and urge immediate contact via a provided email to “resolve” the matter. Upon response, the “authorities” demand paying fines to avoid prosecution, often leading to cryptocurrency transfers.

“To slip past protective solutions, scammers employ various evasion tactics. These include embedding the main threat in attachments to avoid body text scanning, mixing letters from different alphabets (e.g., replacing Latin letters with similar Cyrillic ones), adding diacritical marks via HTML codes, varying fonts in HTML markup, inserting random symbols or punctuation between words, and hiding text in invisible HTML tables. Such “noise” makes detection by security solutions more difficult, as each email variant appears unique while remaining readable to humans. For example, cryptocurrency wallet addresses might be obscured with HTML entities to evade filters without hindering the victim’s ability to copy them,” comments Anna Lazaricheva, Senior Spam Analyst at Kaspersky

To avoid falling victim to scams, Kaspersky recommends the following steps:

  • Verify the sender: always check the email’s From field and compare it to the return email address in the Reply-To field or mentioned in the text of the message. Discrepancies often indicate fraud.
  • Ignore attachments and links: do not open unsolicited files as they may contain malware. Do not click suspicious links as they may lead to phishing or scam sites.
  • Spot evasion signs: look for unusual text formatting, mixed letters from different alphabets, or random symbols – these are red flags for spam.
  • Know the procedures: legitimate law enforcement organizations are unlikely to send summons via email or demand cryptocurrency payments; they use official channels.
  • Fact-check claims: search for mentioned agencies, laws, or organizations online – if they don’t exist or the details don’t match, it’s a scam.
  • Report and Secure: Forward suspicious emails to authorities like your local cybercrime unit and update your device’s security software immediately.
  • Use protection solutions with anti-phishing capabilities, such as Kaspersky Premium for individuals and Kaspersky Security for Mail Server for organizations, to decrease the chance of infection through a phishing email.

Dubai Metro Blue Line reaches 10% completion milestone

Dubai Metro Blue Line construction hits 10% completion, just five months after launch. The AED56.5B project spans 30 km and 14 stations, connecting Red and Green lines to serve 1M residents by 2040. Operations begin Sept 2029, cutting travel time to Dubai Airport to 20 minutes.

Mon, Nov 10, 2025 2 min

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), announced that construction of the Dubai Metro Blue Line has reached 10 percent completion, just five months after its groundbreaking ceremony in June 2025.

The AED56.5 billion project spans 30 km and includes 14 stations, linking the Red and Green Lines and connecting key residential, economic, and educational districts. Over 500 engineers and experts, along with 3,000 workers, are currently deployed across 12 sites to accelerate progress.

Al Tayer confirmed that work is proceeding on schedule, with 30 percent completion expected by the end of 2026 and operations set to begin on 9th September, 2029. “The Dubai Metro Blue Line is one of RTA’s most strategic projects, serving areas expected to house around one million residents by 2040 and offering direct journeys to Dubai International Airport in just 20 minutes,” he said.

He added that the line supports the Dubai Urban Plan 2040 and the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) by promoting the ‘20-minute city’ concept and reducing traffic congestion by 20 percent. It is also projected to increase property values around stations by up to 25 percent.

RTA reported that over 3 million work hours have been completed without any fatalities, reflecting adherence to the highest international safety standards. More than 260 deep foundations and 400,000 cubic metres of excavation have been completed, while the consortium has established two ready-mix concrete plants and production yards in Al Ruwayyah 3 and International City to enhance construction efficiency.

The 30 km line will run in two directions: the first from Creek Interchange Station on the Green Line in Al Jaddaf to Dubai Academic City, and the second from Centrepoint Interchange Station on the Red Line in Al Rashidiya to International City.

The project’s architectural centerpiece will be the Emaar Station, set to become the world’s highest metro station at 74 meters, with capacity for 240,000 passengers per day by 2040. Designed to blend with the urban landscape, it will serve as a landmark symbolizing Dubai’s future-focused infrastructure vision.

RTA continues to engage local communities through proactive communication and public consultations, ensuring residents are informed of construction updates and planned traffic diversions.

The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has announced a new natural gas discovery in the Badr-15 area, located in the Western Desert — a region that continues to play a pivotal role in the country’s energy production map. According to the ministry, the newly discovered field has been swiftly brought into production, with an initial output estimated at 16 million cubic feet of gas per day.

Preliminary evaluations suggest that the field could contribute an estimated 15 billion cubic feet of gas to Egypt’s proven reserves, originating from the Lower Bahariya reservoir, one of the key productive layers in the area. This achievement underscores the ministry’s ongoing efforts to intensify exploration and drilling activities across Egypt’s Western Desert, leveraging modern technologies to enhance production and strengthen the country’s energy security.

The discovery comes as part of Egypt’s broader strategy to maximize the utilization of its natural resources, attract further investment into its oil and gas sector, and maintain its position as a regional energy hub. The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to supporting exploration partnerships with both local and international energy companies, ensuring the continuous growth of the petroleum industry and the sustainable development of Egypt’s economy.

AWS and OpenAI announce multi-year strategic partnership

AWS and OpenAI signed a $38B deal to scale OpenAI’s AI models using AWS infrastructure. OpenAI will use NVIDIA GPUs and millions of CPUs by 2027 to power ChatGPT and future models, marking a major step in their long-term collaboration.

Thu, Nov 6, 2025 2 min

Amazon Web Services (AWS) and OpenAI announced a multi-year, strategic partnership that provides AWS’s world-class infrastructure to run and scale OpenAI’s core artificial intelligence (AI) workloads starting immediately. Under this new $38 billion agreement, which will have continued growth over the next seven years, OpenAI is accessing AWS compute comprising hundreds of thousands of state-of-the-art NVIDIA GPUs, with the ability to expand to tens of millions of CPUs to rapidly scale agentic workloads. AWS has unusual experience running large-scale AI infrastructure securely, reliably, and at scale–with clusters topping 500K chips. AWS’s leadership in cloud infrastructure combined with OpenAI’s pioneering advancements in generative AI will help millions of users continue to get value from ChatGPT.

The rapid advancement of AI technology has created unprecedented demand for computing power. As frontier model providers seek to push their models to new heights of intelligence, they are increasingly turning to AWS due to the performance, scale, and security they can achieve. OpenAI will immediately start utilizing AWS compute as part of this partnership, with all capacity targeted to be deployed before the end of 2026, and the ability to expand further into 2027 and beyond.

The infrastructure deployment that AWS is building for OpenAI features a sophisticated architectural design optimized for maximum AI processing efficiency and performance. Clustering the NVIDIA GPUs—both GB200s and GB300s—via Amazon EC2 UltraServers on the same network enables low-latency performance across interconnected systems, allowing OpenAI to efficiently run workloads with optimal performance. The clusters are designed to support various workloads, from serving inference for ChatGPT to training next generation models, with the flexibility to adapt to OpenAI’s evolving needs.

“Scaling frontier AI requires massive, reliable compute,” said OpenAI co-founder and CEO Sam Altman. “Our partnership with AWS strengthens the broad compute ecosystem that will power this next era and bring advanced AI to everyone.”

“As OpenAI continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible, AWS’s best-in-class infrastructure will serve as a backbone for their AI ambitions,” said Matt Garman, CEO of AWS. “The breadth and immediate availability of optimized compute demonstrates why AWS is uniquely positioned to support OpenAI’s vast AI workloads.”

This news continues the companies’ work together to provide cutting-edge AI technology to benefit organizations worldwide. Earlier this year, OpenAI open weight foundation models became available on Amazon Bedrock, bringing these additional model options to millions of customers on AWS. OpenAI has quickly become one of the most popular publicly available model providers in Amazon Bedrock with thousands of customers—including Bystreet, Comscore, Peloton, Thomson Reuters, Triomics, and Verana Health—working with their models for agentic workflows, coding, scientific analysis, mathematical problem-solving, and more.

Kaspersky shares a guide to deleting digital footprint from the internet

Digital footprints last forever. From old social media posts to forgotten accounts, your data may still be accessible to employers, hackers, or strangers. Kaspersky shares practical steps to protect your privacy.

Tue, Nov 4, 2025 3 min

Users’ digital footprints have been building up for years. Social media accounts, old comments, carelessly posted photos, message boards, and old marketplace listings — everything that each individual user has ever shared online remains there, potentially causing serious retroactive issues for the poster. This information may be of interest to potential employers, government agencies, advertisers, scammers and even exes. HR departments often conduct thorough background checks on candidates before hiring. Additionally, data obtained through the use of shady services that search for leaked information from data breaches can be used for doxing and harassment purposes.

Kaspersky shares the guidelines on how to manage personal digital footprint and minimize the amount of private information available to everyone online.

Google yourself regularly

By searching for yourself, you’ll first see exactly where you once registered (and perhaps forgot about), and second, you’ll be able to check for any fake or impersonating accounts using your name.

Get rid of old accounts and posts

Once you’ve dealt with the fake accounts and compiled a list of your genuine ones, it’s time to delete the superfluous and outdated ones. Don’t rely entirely on the initial search or your own memory. Dig deep into your email archives to see which sites and services message you as their user. You can also review the list of saved passwords in your browsers or password managers.

Dealing with shadow profiles

Unfortunately, the accounts you’ve registered are only half the battle. Sometimes social media sites generate shadow profiles containing data on you that may persist even after you delete your account. These profiles can include information you never directly shared with the service. For example, you might have granted the Facebook app access to your phone contacts without ever importing them into your account. All the data from your address book could end up in that shadow profile.

Even more unsettling, sometimes these accounts get created for users who’ve never even registered with the service, by gathering data from other platforms and open sources. While it’s nearly impossible to completely prevent shadow profiles from being created, you can definitely minimize the damage. Go through your old apps, and revoke their access to your sensitive data — things like your camera, photos, contacts, location, and so on. Going forward, meticulously monitor which permissions you grant to each new app.

Set up data breach notifications

Data leaks happen online virtually every day, exposing massive amounts of personal data: IP addresses, names, phone numbers, email addresses, payment info, and much more. Websites like Have I Been Pwned allow you to enter your email and get alerts if it shows up in a new leaked database.

However, for a comprehensive approach and greater convenience, it’s best to monitor leaks through Kaspersky Premium — we search for breaches using both email addresses and phone numbers. You can add all your email addresses and phone numbers (for yourself and your family) and be confident that we’ll warn you about a breach almost immediately, thanks to the Kaspersky Security Network (KSN) — our global threat intelligence infrastructure.

Unfortunately, preventing leaks single-handedly is an impossible task for the average user. So, the best defense is to limit how much personal data you share when registering new accounts.

Clean up your inbox

An email inbox overflowing with old messages that contain private information is also part of your digital footprint. Go through your mail using keywords like “password”, “SSN”, or “account”, and delete any emails containing this sensitive data. Unsubscribe from old mailing lists. This lowers the chance that your email address will leak from a marketer’s database.

Erase local traces

Don’t forget to regularly — at least once a month — clear your browser history, cookies, and cache on all your devices. Alternatively, set up your browser to clear this data automatically when you close it. This lessens the chance of an outsider collecting information from your device if they gain access to it.

On smartphones, it’s advised to disable or periodically reset your advertising identifier.

Review your privacy settings

You can check and adjust privacy and security settings through our free service, Privacy Checker. It will guide you on how to configure popular social platforms, services, and even operating systems to your desired level of privacy.

Microsoft to invest $15B+ in UAE and gains AI chip export approval

Microsoft will invest $15B in the UAE by 2029 to expand AI and cloud infrastructure, powering data centers with Nvidia chips and supporting the nation’s drive to become a global AI hub.

Tue, Nov 4, 2025 2 min

Microsoft will invest over $15 billion in the United Arab Emirates in the seven years to the end of 2029 and has the Trump administration’s approval to export Nvidia chips for its data centers there, a senior executive said.

The UAE has been spending billions of dollars to become a global artificial intelligence hub, leveraging its close relations with Washington to secure access to U.S. technology, including some of the world’s most advanced chips.

“The biggest share of (the investment), by far, both looking back and looking forward, is the expansion of AI data centers across the UAE,” Microsoft Vice Chair and President Brad Smith said in an interview.

“From our perspective, it’s an investment that is critical to meet the demand here for the use of AI,” he said on the sidelines of the ADIPEC energy conference in Abu Dhabi.

New Round of Chip Export Approvals from Trump White House

Microsoft invested $1.5 billion last year to take a minority stake in Abu Dhabi AI company G42, giving the U.S. tech giant a board seat, which is filled by Smith.

G42’s past ties to China, however, have attracted scrutiny in Washington, due to concerns over Beijing’s access to advanced semiconductors, including via third parties like the UAE.

G42 said last year it was working with U.S. partners and the Emirati government to comply with AI development and deployment standards. Smith said G42 had made “enormous progress” in implementing the systems required to comply with U.S. law.

Asked whether the Abu Dhabi firm would obtain direct access to the most advanced U.S. chips, he said he thought that would be “part of G42’s future.”

Smith said in a separate blog post on Microsoft’s website on Monday that licenses approved last year by the Biden administration allowed Microsoft to accumulate the equivalent of 21,500 Nvidia A100 GPUs in the UAE, based on a combination of A100, H100, and H200 chips.

The Trump White House in September cleared for export an amount equivalent to a further 60,400 A100 chips, involving Nvidia’s more advanced GB300 GPUs, he said, after the administration revised technology safeguards.

Investing Billions in AI Expansion Cloud Infrastructure

The chips covered by the latest approvals have not yet been shipped, but that will happen “in a matter of months,” Smith told Reuters, adding they will be used in its own data centers in the UAE.

Microsoft will have invested $7.3 billion in the UAE between 2023 and the end of this year. A further $7.9 billion is earmarked to be spent between next year and the end of 2029, including for the ongoing and planned expansion of AI and cloud infrastructure, he said in his blog post.

None of the $15.2 billion investment disclosed on Monday will involve Stargate UAE, the first phase of one of the world’s largest planned data centre hubs. That project, located in Abu Dhabi, was announced during a Gulf visit by U.S. President Donald Trump in May.
