The International Code Council (ICC) is undertaking a robust program of industry engagement this September, with participation in three of Saudi Arabia’s leading events Intersec Saudi Arabia, the Building Envelope Design and Insulation Conference (BEDIC), and the MEP International Conference (MEPIC). Together, these platforms highlight ICC’s active role in advancing the Kingdom’s sustainable construction sector, strengthening building safety, and promoting best practices in efficiency and innovation.
BEDIC 2025 is the Kingdom’s premier platform focused on critical aspects of construction, including facades, acoustics, fire safety, insulation, and building envelopes. The conference convenes project owners, industry leaders, experts, and government stakeholders to explore innovations in sustainable materials, energy-efficient systems, and facade design. ICC’s MENA Managing Director, Mohamed Amer, will join the opening panel, ‘Regulating Smart and Sustainable Envelopes – Evolving Standards for Saudi Arabia’s Tech-Driven Future,’ on 10th September. He will discuss the alignment of Saudi building codes with international best practices, the streamlining of smart envelope regulations, and the establishment of performance benchmarks for energy efficiency, fire safety, and systems’ compliance.

Porsche to debut wireless inductive charging with the new Cayenne Electric, offering up to 11 kW contactless home charging via a floor plate, launching in Europe in 2026. Integrated into the My Porsche app, the system ensures seamless, safe, and convenient charging, marking a major step in e-mobility innovation.
With a maximum charging power of up to 11 kW, the sports car manufacturer has even reached the level of wired AC charging with its contactless charging system.
Around 75 percent of all charging processes in an all-electric Porsche take place at home. This was the result of an analysis by the sports car manufacturer. The potential for inductive charging is correspondingly great. The user-friendly Porsche Wireless Charging floor plate (length/width/height: 117/78/6 centimetres) can be installed by an electrician in a garage, carport or open-air parking space and connected to the mains.
In order to be able to charge contactless, hardware is also required on the car. The new Cayenne Electric (internal abbreviation: E4) will be the first model series that can be ordered with optional Porsche Wireless Charging pre-installation and Porsche Wireless vehicle plate. Protected from stone chips and the effects of the weather, the receiver unit is located in the underbody of the vehicle between the front wheels. For the charging process, the Cayenne then only has to be parked above the floor plate. The contactless transfer of energy between the two charging units takes place over a distance of a few centimeters. To this end, the Cayenne lowers automatically. The base plate has a motion detector and foreign object detection. The charging process is automatically interrupted if a living creature gets between the vehicle and the floor plate or if a metallic object lies on the latter and heats up.
Porsche Wireless Charging is integrated into the My Porsche app, so that charging processes can be tracked and several vehicles can be authenticated. A special view in the Surround View parking function makes it easier to steer the Cayenne to the optimal charging position. As soon as the parking position above the floor plate is reached and the parking brake is activated, the charging process begins. Customers don’t need to do anything else. Convenience functions familiar from AC charging, such as timer charging with preconditioning, are also available for wireless charging.
The floor plate, which weighs a good 50 kilograms, is equipped with an LTE and WLAN module as standard, so that remote software updates and infrastructure support are also guaranteed in the future. Porsche Wireless Charging will initially launch in Europe in 2026. Other markets worldwide will follow.
How inductive charging works in detail
Porsche’s innovative concept uses ultra-wideband technology to determine the vehicle’s relative position above the floor plate. When the optimal parking position is reached, the driver is informed. In the vehicle’s secondary coil, which acts as a receiver unit, the magnetic field then generates alternating current. A rectifier then con-verts this into direct current so that the Cayenne’s high-voltage battery can store it.

The innovative coating is made up of over 25 extremely thin layers. These include conductive primers, electrode and insulating layers as well as the actual electroluminescent material with colour pigments. Under alternating voltage, it emits light. A new Kaspersky report reveals that 87% of randomly surveyed websites display cookie notifications, yet most users remain unaware of the serious threats posed by these small data files. Cookies are text files stored by browsers to enhance website functionality and track user activity, and they sometimes become targets for cyberattacks. One such threat, session ID hijacking, involves attackers gaining unauthorized access to users’ active sessions on websites. This could potentially give attackers access to sensitive data or the ability to perform actions on a victim’s behalf, like setting up unauthorized transactions. With global regulations like GDPR and others mandating transparency in data collection, the report emphasizes the critical need for robust cookie management to protect personal and corporate information from exploitation.
Depending on the website’s configuration, cookie files can store a variety of data including browsing preferences, personal details such as phone numbers or payment information, and even login credentials. Attackers can steal these cookies to hijack a user’s session on a website. For instance, with a session sniffing technique, attackers might intercept a user’s session ID on public Wi-Fi, or if the site uses HTTP protocol instead of HTTPS. Cross-site scripting (XSS) allows attackers to inject malicious scripts into a website, which are executed in a user’s browser to steal session IDs or other cookie data. Session fixation is used by attackers to trick victims into using a pre-set session ID, allowing access to their account after authentication.
In a real-life scenario, if an attacker intercepts a user’s session ID while the user is logged into an online store, the attacker can, for instance, get the shipping address or access the user’s payment credentials if the session grants access to the account’s payment settings. Thus, session ID hijacking can lead to privacy breaches, financial loss, as well as account compromise or even identity theft. The user may also face reputational damage if the attacker misuses their account to send fraudulent messages or make unauthorized posts.
“Cookies are the backbone of seamless online experiences, enabling everything from personalized settings to streamlined logins, but they’re also a target for hackers if not handled with care. Without proper safeguards, attackers can exploit session IDs to hijack user accounts, steal sensitive data, or even manipulate website interactions, making it imperative for developers to prioritize security measures and for users to stay proactive in protecting their digital footprint,” comments Natalya Zakuskina, Senior Web Content Analyst at Kaspersky.
To counter these threats, Kaspersky recommends users the following:

Skyscanner data shows a surge in domestic travel across Saudi Arabia this summer, with Jeddah, Riyadh, Abha, Dammam, and Madinah topping searches—highlighting staycations as a growing trend driven by family-friendly, cultural, and leisure offerings.
As the summer season comes to an end, Saudi Arabia has seen a significant shift in travel patterns with domestic travel on the rise, supported by strong demand for cultural, entertainment, and family-friendly offerings across the Kingdom.
According to data released by Skyscanner, Jeddah was the most searched destination for trips in July and August, followed by the capital Riyadh. Completing the top five are Abha, Dammam and Madinah, as Saudi travelers increasingly chose to explore the Kingdom’s attractions.
Today, Jeddah is a popular choice with the Red Sea coastline, festivals, and new leisure offerings attracting families while Riyadh remains a leading hub, driven by mega events, shopping, and dining experiences. Abha is an ideal location for nature escapes during the peak heat while Dammam is also appealing with its accessible location a popular weekend getaway.
Furthermore, search volumes for domestic travel rose significantly during June, with the week ending 30th June recording the month’s highest search traffic – a 205.3% Week on Week (WoW) increase.
Hotel stays were also popular. Mecca was the top searched destination for stays between June and August, followed by Jeddah, Madinah and Riyadh. Average night rates for domestic hotel stays stayed competitive starting from SAR 460. Cheaper than Egypt (from SAR 501) and Turkey (from SAR 663), staycations were an appealing choice for families and younger travelers seeking value and convenience.

The UAE has strengthened its role in driving the global transition to clean energy in 2025, spearheading a wide portfolio of solar energy projects financed and executed by national companies across multiple continents.
The UAE’s solar initiatives extend across Asia, Africa, and Europe, reinforcing the country’s leadership in reducing carbon emissions and tackling climate change.
At the start of this year, the UAE signed a tripartite partnership framework with Italy and Albania to develop large-scale renewable energy projects in Albania, focusing on solar photovoltaic, wind, and hybrid solutions, with part of the generated power to be exported to Italy.
Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) has accelerated its international expansion in 2025. Key milestones include:
Spain: Acquisition of a 49.99% stake in four solar plants from Endesa photovoltaic plants with a total capacity of 446 MW, strengthening Masdar’s presence in the Iberian Peninsula.
Indonesia: Masdar and PT PLN (Persero), Indonesia’s state-owned electricity company, have signed two agreements to advance the development of floating solar power projects in Southeast Asia’s largest energy market.
The companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop a floating solar power plant at the Jatigede Dam reservoir in West Java, after Masdar secured the lowest tariff in the Hijaunesia 2023 bidding program. Development of the plant is due to start this year, with completion scheduled for 2027.
Masdar and PLN also signed a ‘Principles of Agreement’ to explore the potential expansion of Masdar’s 145MWac Cirata Floating Photovoltaic Power Plant, the first phase of which began operations in November 2023.
Saudi Arabia: Masdar, a global clean energy leader, and consortium partners GD Power and Korea Electric Power Corporation announced they have reached financial close for the 2-gigawatt (GW) Al Sadawi solar photovoltaic (PV) project, a landmark project under the National Renewable Energy Program (NREP) which is led and supervised by the Ministry of Energy.
Saudi Arabia (Misk City, Riyadh): Emerge, the energy solutions joint venture between Masdar and EDF power solutions, signed a long-term solar energy agreement with Misk City to deliver sustainable electricity over the next 20 years – marking a milestone in the City’s journey to becoming a model of environmental innovation and green urbanism.
The agreement will see the development of a 621-kilowatt peak (kWp) rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) plant atop a dedicated carport structure and other assets within Misk City, located in the northwest of Riyadh.
Madagascar: UAE-based Global South Utilities (GSU), a Resources Investment Company, signed two landmark agreements with the Government of Madagascar aimed at expanding renewable energy capacity and advancing the country’s clean energy transition.
Under the first agreement with the Ministry of Energy and Hydrocarbons, GSU will develop a 50-megawatt solar photovoltaic power plant, complemented by a 25 MWh battery energy storage system, in Moramanga.
Egypt: UAE-based Global South Utilities (GSU) joined forces with Egypt’s AH Industrial Management, China’s JA Solar and Bahrain’s Infinity Capital to develop an integrated solar industrial complex, in a deal worth $220 million (approximately AED810 million).
The “Atum Solar Egypt” project in Ain Sokhna (TEDA) will cover 200,000 square meters and include a 2 GW solar cells factory for exports, and a 2 GW solar modules factory to serve Egypt and Africa to support reliable, clean power.
Yemen: Yemen’s renewable energy sector marked a significant milestone with the expansion of the Aden Solar Power Plant and the commissioning of the Shabwah Solar Power Plant, led by UAE-based Global South Utilities (GSU), part of Abu Dhabi’s Resources Investment, in cooperation with Yemen’s Ministry of Electricity and Energy.
According to GSU, the Shabwah Solar Power Plant is now operational, supplying clean electricity to around 330,000 households.
Central African Republic: The Global South Utilities (GSU) officially broken ground on a 50-megawatt solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Sakaï, Central African Republic (CAR), marking a major step forward in the country’s energy access and clean energy transition.
The project is expected to supply clean electricity to more than 300,000 households.
Comoros: Abu Dhabi Fund for Development marked the inauguration of a 6.3-megawatt solar power plant in the Comoros, funded with a AED25.7 million (US$7 million). The project enhances the nation’s energy infrastructure, helping meet growing energy demands and stimulate economic growth.

Al Ghurair Mobility has signed an agreement with Dongfeng Motor Corporation to introduce the premium automotive brands MHero and Voyah to the KSA.
This marks a significant expansion of Al Ghurair Mobility into the Saudi market. It will introduce advanced new energy and hybrid vehicles that combine performance, innovation, and luxury while directly supporting Vision 2030’s goals for sustainable development and industry diversification. Through its partnership with Dongfeng, Al Ghurair Mobility will deliver premium electrified mobility solutions backed by trusted service and regional expertise.
The signing ceremony was attended by senior leadership from both companies, including John Iossifidis, Group CEO of Al Ghurair, Oscar Rivoli, CEO of Motors, Al Ghurair Mobility and Qiu Xiaojun, CEO of China DONGFENG Import and Export Co. ltd (DFMIEC), Overseas Marketing Division of Passenger Vehicles at Dongfeng Motor.

MHero, established in 2022, is Dongfeng’s ultra-premium off-road brand, drawing on its military heritage to deliver rugged performance with luxury comfort. Voyah, launched in 2021, showcases Dongfeng’s innovation in high-end electric mobility. Porsche introduces new features in its all-electric Macan model year, including enhanced driver assistance systems, digital functions, and a Transparent bonnet function. The Digital Key allows for vehicle unlocking and locking.
With the upcoming model year change, Porsche is expanding the range of intelligent driver assistance systems and digital functions offered in the all-electric Macan. The main focus has been on innovations that take the user experience for the driver and passengers to a new level.
The Surround View assistance system including Active Parking Support, for example, has been further developed and is optionally available with new functions such as Trained Parking and Reversing Assist. In addition to this is the Porsche Digital Key, which can be used on compatible iPhone, Apple Watch, and Android™ devices, and the expanded Porsche App Centre with new entertainment possibilities. The Porsche Charging Planner has also been enhanced, enabling charging stations and providers to be prioritised or avoided in a more targeted manner. And finally, practicality has been further enhanced through an increase in maximum towing capacity.
Next-generation parking convenience
The all-electric Macan is equipped with the Surround View assistance system including Active Parking Support as standard. Four high-resolution cameras provide a 360-degree view of the car’s surroundings, as well as a cross-traffic view for added convenience and a more expansive view when manoeuvring. The Active Parking Assistance system detects suitable parking spaces and automatically takes over the steering as well as forwards and backwards movements when parking in parallel or perpendicular parking spaces. With the model year change, the parking assistance system will be expanded to include several optional functions that offer added convenience, especially in narrow or awkward spaces.
Transparent bonnet: the new Transparent bonnet function uses the front and exterior mirror cameras to provide a virtual view of the area in front of the vehicle via the central display. This enables the driver to see obstacles that are below their line of sight, making manoeuvring much easier, especially on challenging terrain.
Trained Parking: the Trained Parking feature can learn individual parking routines and perform them automatically. After a one-time manual operation, the vehicle recognises a familiar environment – for example, the owner’s garage or parking space at work – and offers to take over the parking manoeuvre. The driver remains in control at all times. Up to five different parking routines can be saved.
Reversing Assist: the range of features is supplemented by Reversing Assist, which enables the car to automatically reverse along a route it has previously driven forwards – ideal for narrow access roads or winding parking garages. The system remembers routes of up to 50 metres in length and offers safe, automated reversing, with the driver needing only to monitor the manoeuvre.
Compatible iPhone, Apple Watch and Android devices as a car key
With Comfort Access, users will also have access to the Porsche Digital Key, which includes car keys in Apple Wallet or a native wallet app on Android. This allows drivers to automatically unlock or lock, and start their vehicle by leaving their iPhone, Apple Watch, or compatible Android device in their pocket or by simply holding their devices near a reader – leveraging Near Field Communication (NFC), Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) to power the seamless experience. Users can still use their car key in Apple Wallet or a native wallet app on Android to access and start their vehicle, even if the smartphone needs to be charged.1
Owners will also have the ability to share car keys in Apple Wallet or a native wallet app on Android through Apple Mail, Messages, WhatsApp, and more, with up to seven other users, and vehicle owners can also decide whether these shared users are able to simply gain access to their vehicle or additionally have the ability to drive it. The Porsche Digital Key also offers the convenient function of opening the trunk. Addition-ally, via the My Porsche App, luggage compartments and the trunk can be controlled. These features require activation of Porsche Connect services.
In-car gaming: the Macan becomes a mobile game console
The App Centre turns the Porsche Macan into an entertainment hub – both when sta-tionary, for example during charging breaks, and while driving. Whether it’s music streaming, podcasts, gaming or movies, users gain access to an ever-growing selec-tion of third-party apps that can be seamlessly integrated into the Porsche ecosystem.
With the model year update, games from providers Gameloft and Obscure Interactive are now offered via the Porsche App Centre and can be controlled via touchscreen or Bluetooth controller. AirConsole brings a wide variety of family games and gaming classics that can be easily controlled via smartphone. Driver, front passenger and rear passengers can play individually or together. The optional passenger display allows apps to be used simultaneously, even while driving, without distracting the driver. In combination with a Bluetooth headset, an undisturbed listening experience is possible.
Voice Pilot: enhanced interaction through artificial intelligence
The Voice Pilot voice control feature is smarter than ever thanks to the integration of artificial intelligence2. In the background, the Voice Pilot utilises various language models, as is known from well-known AI assistants. It now better understands com-plex, interrelated questions and recognises what a statement is referring to. An integrated on-board manual answers questions about vehicle use – without typing, simply by voice command. The enhanced Voice Pilot makes the Porsche Macan a real con-versation partner.
Market launch by the end of the year
Alongside the new digital and assistance features, Porsche is also expanding the range of individualization possibilities for the all-electric Macan. These include new personalization options for the door sill guards and LED door courtesy lights. The Porsche Charging Planner has also been optimized, and customers can now prioritize or specifically exclude individual charging stations when planning their journey.
The practicality of the all-electric Macan has also been enhanced. Maximum towing capacity has increased by 500 kilograms to 2,500 kilograms for all-wheel drive variants.
The updated model will be introduced by the end of the year.
